1. Move
Exercise isn't everyone's favourite word, but simply put, it involves moving your body more. Find ways to exercise that you enjoy and that suit your lifestyle. The more you enjoy it, the more likely you are to keep it up and to view it as something positive, than simply something to be endured. Start small and focus on your achievements.
2. Eat Well
Eating the best food we can is a very good way to improve your energy, wellbeing and general health. Everyone's bodies are different, so experiment with what works best for you.
3. Get the Right Amount of Sleep (For You)
Again, we are all different, so find your sweet spot with getting enough sleep. Some people thrive on five hours a night, some (like me) like at least eight. You know if you are getting enough (and a good quality of) sleep. If not, get into the habit of making it a priority and making any adjustments to your schedule and diet to optimize your sleep.
4. Write
Writing is a great way to improve your life. There are many reasons people write, you don't have to be a professional writer or penning a book. You could write fiction or just what comes to mind. It can be a great way to process your thoughts and feelings and unlock your creativity. Julia Cameron who wrote The Artists Way recommends writing three pages a day of stream of consciousness. No editing or judging - just writing out whatever is inside you. Many people use this as a personal development tool and it can be used to dig deeper as a writer if you want to - to remove the surface' stuff from your mind.
5. Get Creative
Many of us lose touch with our creativity as the years pass. Making your creativity a priority can help you enjoy life more, feel healthier and have outlets for your deeper feelings or callings. Taking pictures, drawing, writing (see above), cooking, dancing, web design.. The sky's the limit. Slowing down enough to notice the beuaty in every day life helps to engage the creative brain.
6. Pursue Your Passion(s)
Even if you don't currently know what your passion or passions are, staying committed or re-committing to finding them is a very good way to improve your life. I believe we all have things that we are put on this planet to do and it is our job to uncover them. Don't give up! Spending time being creative is a good way to explore this.
7. Stop People-Pleasing
I really believe stopping people-pleasing is one thing that can dramatically improve the quality of your life. Read my free ebook (by subscribing at the top right of my site) to find out more about how to put people-pleasing in the past and live more authentically.
8. Meditate
Meditation is a great way to press pause on every day life and just be. It is an excellent practice for your mental, physical amd spiritual well being. I highly recommend reading "Full Catastrophe Living" if you are interested in mindfulness meditation, which is the one I practice.
9. Spend More Time Outside
Being a bit of a book worm, I didn't always spend a lot of time outside. However, since moving to the countryside I spend quite a bit of time outside and I contribute not getting colds like I used to, to this. Good for your health and mental wellbeing!
10. Go for Your Dreams
Life's too short to do the same old thing, day in day out without pursuing your dreams. If you've buried them deep or just forgotten what your dreams are, make a pact today to excavate them!
